The Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics (JPO) is the leading peer reviewed journal in prosthetics and orthotics. The JPO promotes and disseminates scientific and technical advances in prosthetics and orthotics as well as developments in clinical practice, research, education and technology. It is the premiere forum for O&P research. Its content is applicable to a multi-disciplinary group of health care professionals. Published quarterly with a subscription base of over 5,000, the JPO is used as a standard for education in residency and training programs. Members receive a personal subscription to the prestigious JPO.
The State-of-the-Science Conference FindingsThe State-of-the-Science Conference (SSC) Findings are published findings which serve two equally vital purposes. They offer clinical guidance about those practice fundamentals that have been scientifically validated, defining and encouraging best practices in the field and training programs. They also identify research priorities that will strengthen the science used to support clinical decision-making in the future. Unless otherwise noted, these conferences and the printing and distribution of their findings have been fully funded by the United States Department of Education Special Demonstration Programs-Projects for Orthotic and Prosthetic Research.
The Academy TODAY is an educational resource mailed four times a year with the O&P Edge. It is filled with case studies, legislative updates and the latest in O&P patient care. O&P professionals may earn continuing education credits by taking quizzes on the Academy's Paul E. Leimkuehler Online Learning Center (OLC).
The Academy ADVANTAGE is a regular e-newsletter provided by the Academy to inform members about the latest news and events in O&P.
The Recommended Reading section is a list of a variety of publications that may be of interest to O&P professionals. The Academy teamed up with Amazon.com to make ordering quick and easy. Inclusion on this list does not indicate preference or official sponsorship of the author or organization by the American Academy of Orthotists & Prosthetists.
The Academy Resident Research Awards are comprised of the best of the research projects performed by students enrolled in an NCOPE residency program. Papers that do not qualify as research using the scientific criteria applied by the Academy Research Council, but which may still be of interest to our members, are posted as “Papers of Interest.”
